[Music] western sumatra the land of the minangkabau one of the most interesting regions I've ever traveled to yet very underappreciated bukittinggi and the region around offer you so many things to discover reigning from unique architecture to amazing nature let yourself be guided through a very raw sight of Indonesia a wonderful region that definitely deserves more attention I'm presenting you marvelous bukittinggi [Music] welcome to the second episode about travelling in western sumatra in today's video i'm presenting you bukittinggi which is the cultural center of this region the lot of things you can see around there and one of the places that you hardly can miss is the lembeh on a waterfall we're leaving pattern for bukittinggi you certainly will pass this beautiful waterfall which is just next to the road for editing you have to pay a humble entrance fee of five thousand indonesian rupiah which is only half a US dollar we're here at our third shown limba an i it's actually much better than in the pictures so first I was like okay let's see how it is but now I do have to say I'm really happy I'm here what is quite nice about being at this waterfall is that it actually totally from the waterfall in fact it's very near the entrance of para panjang the first thing that you would notice once you arrive to the place is how big the house is however it is already suggested in a Western Sumatra and the culture of the minangkabau people what's actually really cool about vena cava museums in this region is that you can dress up in traditional attire this room a garden provides unfortunately burned down the Parker ruin kingdom was founded on the lens of today's Westin Sumatra and lasted for nearly five centuries the decline of the kingdom started around 1804 when the royal palace was burnt down in a religious conflict known as the powdery war the war was ended with committing to the principle of audit which is a compromise between Islamic teachings and minangkabau traditions I believe this compromise is the reason why meaning cabal culture today is still very unique just to name a few things the Minang cabal people are a matriarchal society that means the lands is always passed from the mother to their daughters what may also surprise you is that the family names are not passed by the father to their kids but instead by the modern other important elements of the minangkabau culture are the unique architecture and the traditional clothing speaking of clothing even here you can rent some of the traditional outfits and it only costs it 25, 000 Indonesian Rupiah one of the places that you have to visit when is staying in bukittinggi is the C&O quali it's one of the most beautiful landscapes in this region [Music] this beautiful piece of nature is nicely embedded into the town of bukittinggi it's one of the most developed attractions around this region which I believe is due to the fact that many locals keep coming here this park provides you a lot of lookouts from where you can oversee this Green Valley what is already quite the norm all over Bali artists many instagramming photos spots a trend which seemingly has even started over here just located within the park but also very interesting are the Japanese war tunnels [Music] the construction of this underground facility was ordered by the Japanese during World War 2 in 1942 for that they used workers from all over Indonesia except from the region here this in order to keep this place secret it used to serve as a base for hiding an operation and furthermore it also was an Arsenal for weapons one of the things that I found were very underrated where this many beautiful traditional maaske are scattered all around this region as mentioned before Dominica balls are known for their very unique architecture and therefore in this region you have a lot of mosques with very native designs one of them for example is the Masjid asaji in Paran panjang a pagoda style mosque despite looking very humble I do have to say it's one of the most interesting mosques that I've ever visited also very nice is this traditional village in which the mosque is embedded too as well as the rice fields around it also very interesting and just by the road on your way to bukittinggi is the surah here which is a prayer room again this is a very native minangkabau style Islam prayer house which I do have to say is very beautiful here is my advice to you people of Western Sumatra please preserve this structure as well they are very precious not only to tourists like me but also to your identity located in the middle of the town of bukittinggi there are two places that you have to visit the first one would be the Jumba Don Lim poppy [Music] the bridge is built in a modern venerable style and it's very colorful from there it can overlook the city but the interesting part is actually on the other side there you will find a small zoo and there is another munich about museum so this here is your second chance should you have mr.
