I'm sure Mouse returning subscribers know I'm a Bigfoot a fan the team I support walls is even in my channel name if you didn't I'm wondering where it came from so she could hopefully tell I've always been keen on tabletop football games it's just that most have never
piqued my interest outside of Cebu tio no Cebu tio is great I've got it upstairs and do break it out sometimes but it's more skill-based than tactical there's no dice rolls or stats it relies totally on your ability to flick little bits of plastic around the pitch a
skill gap which meant my seven-year-old soon lost interest but counter-attack the football strategy game removes that gap and brings to the tabletop a tactical strategy game with counters stats for players and dice inside the relatively small box you get the rulebook to quick play guides the pitch 46
play cards or referees to full teams in Newcastle / Aventis and IX 2 balls to distance sticks to san-tomás for those slow players to dice and tokens to represent cards and injuries to play a game you draft your team from the available player cards at random during 4
of them at a time you take tin turns choosing a player based on his relevant stats there is a helpful guide and what to look out for your football manager skills will come into effect here but common sense also is needed as song with great shooting and poor
defending won't exactly work as a centre-back flip a coin to see who kicks off and picks the first player then assign them a number on your team sheet across the bottom of the board you also have to choose a goalkeeper and referee at random at this point just
shuffling the cards and picking them from the top the referee has a leniency rating which you have to roll on when a foul is committed the higher the number to beat the lower chance of you receiving a card once you've drafted your first 11 you have to draft
for substitutes and then decide who your starting 11 will be subs can be bought on cheering goal kicks corners and free kicks and once replace you cannot bring that player back on you can also only make three substitutes in a game once you've decided your starting eleven now
you have to put your formation on the board here we have IX with a 433 defensive midfielder lone striker and inside forwards against an old-fashioned two four four two tactics do make a difference in this game as well as your style of Plan B green press love ball
or tiki-taka the fact you can use all types of play and change it up on the fly depending on how your opponent's playing means I've had a few great games already now the game doesn't have phases or rounds it uses real time halves in football so 45 minutes
each half with a changeover at half time and the attacking team is classed as the one in control of the ball from kickoff the attacking player goes into the movement phase they are able to move four of their players up to their pace value stat the defending player
then moves five exactly the same and then lastly the attacking player moves two which haven't moved already up to two spaces pushing the cards upwards once you've activated them to help you keep track of who has moved once a movement phase is complete you choose to do a
standard pass High Pass log ball or take a shot this quick play guide really helps you keep track of your allowed actions the distance stick tells you what you're allowed to do in terms of distance and once you've played a couple of turns or watch the videos on
YouTube by the creators game's end up becoming quite fast paced with a new movement phase resetting the players there's nothing better than seeing your world thought-out maneuver work out when you get a shot on goal or even score yes you need to roll your dice to attempt shots
or long balls headers and crosses with your roll being added to the players stat to determine if you're successful if not the ball could either be caught or knocked wide for a corner the dice are used quite often and for some who don't look factors in their games
that would be a problem bro for personally they were only used when needed and created some effective drama with good saves or near misses if you are interested in learning more of the rules they are available for free on the counter-attack website and on their YouTube channel I've
personally loved playing these seven games I've had and want to get more teams especially local ones who aren't my beloved wolves hated Albion alright Villa and vile Brom I might even pick up also and I definitely want more player cards all of these can be purchased on the
website as expansions for an OK price playing so many games in short succession I found out that through balls or even long balls can be very effective and that your choice of player stats really are essential to success one game I add issues drafting people who could tackle
so my son managed to dribble past my defenders with ease and score plenty goals really felt like men against boys and with the draft process meaning you have to choose a new team every game it really does end up creating a different experience the robot gives you the
opportunity to play leagues with you keeping the same team and hoping you can turn them into something special as they try to get league or Cup glory and I would love to bring that to the channel when I get some way together and get the expansions a role
I've really loved this game especially during the isolation and my son has enjoyed it more than Cebu tio for me it's the best tabletop football experience I've had the cards and characters should last a long time gameplay is easy to learn and it's really easy to store setup
and play I strongly recommend this game for 40 fans it's available on Amazon with prime delivery for 35 quid or you can get it from the counter-attack website so please check it out if you're interested as I've loved my time with it and will be playing it quite
often [Music]
