Guardian Games, the latest Destiny 2 event, is yet another disappointment.
Before we get to what makes it disappointing, I want to talk about some of the positives.
The Theme of the Event is cool.
An event that feels like the Olympics in Destiny? Awesome.
The heir apparent machinegun, I want it.
Being able to wield a colossus’ weapon formyself is also very cool.
The hunter cloak is okay, I guess, but thatconcludes my list of positives.
Now on to why it’s disappointing.
First, let’s talk about the missed potential.
When guardian games was announced, and itresembled the Olympics with its theme, I was under the impression that there would be gamesassociated with it, considering it’s called guardian games.
To load up the tower and find out that it’snothing more than another bounty grind was a massive buzzkill to say the least.
Considering this event replaces the Revelrythat had us going into the Verdant Forest to complete challenges and had its own gameplayloop.
The guardian games event continues to behaveexactly the same as the rest of the game.
A bounty simulator.
Imagine if Guardian Games had its own uniqueevent.
My first thought was a crucible mode thatpit titans, warlocks, and hunters all against each other.
3 teams of 4 in a crucible arena.
Team Titan, Team Warlock, and Team Hunter.
Whichever class wins the most matches winsthe event.
That’s my favorite idea for what GuardianGames could be.
But I’ve heard some other good ideas tossedaround on this reddit post like sparrow races, completing platforming puzzles the fastest, or a crucible mode called fencing that gives everyone a sword similar to the scorch cannongame mode.
The potential for something really great isthere and it always is in Destiny.
Destiny as a franchise has the most potentialout of any video game out there.
So when something so cool like an OlympicsEvent comes to Destiny, it’s so disappointing to see that potential wasted on just anotherBounty and Mote Farm.
Bungie has done things so right with otherevents too like with the European Arial Zone, Crimson Days, or the Haunted Forest.
These Events aren’t weren’t mindblowingbut at least they broke up the day to day grind of destiny with their unique event.
With Guardian Games, we just replay the samecontent we’ve been farming for powerful drops.
I had a little bit of faith that GuardianGames would be worth logging in for, but besides that exotic machine gun, it feels like justanother day in Destiny.
I’ve been having a lot of fun on Destiny1 lately though; we’ve been replaying the whole game with a new Character on the channelhere and you guys have seemed to enjoy that quite a lot.
That series is keeping my love for Destinyalive and I appreciate all your support on the videos.
Again, I’m always hopeful that bungie canbring me back to Destiny 2 because like I said, Destiny’s Potential is UNMATCHED.
If it were up to me, I’d rather bungie notrelease a new season or event at all if they continue to come out half baked.
But those are just my thoughts, let me knowwhat you guys think.
Are you enjoying Guardian games? Or have you already moved on.
As always guys, thanks for watching, I’llsee you next time.
I first want to talk about the missed potential….
butinstead of something cool like this, it’s another bounty grind.
Another reason to push eververse sales, nonew gamemode, no new twist on something like a haunted forest or European arial zone, justbounty farming.
Something we’ve been doing nonstop sinceshadowkeeps launch.
I had a little bit of faith that guardiangames would be worth returning for.
But after these first few days its made apparentthat Guardian Games continues the trend of pointless content.
That new machine gun is enticing to get, butI just don’t know if I’m going to go for it.
Especially when I’m having much more funon Destiny 1 lately.
We’ve been having a lot of fun with therecent playthrough on the new character, so be sure to check out those videos if you’reinterested in seeing that.
Again, I’m always hopeful bungie can reallyprove to us they’re capable of making great content and events.
Look at forsaken, and events like Hauntedforest, or the European Arial zone.
Those events weren’t mindblowing but theysure as hell were a lot better than guardian games.
Personally, I’d rather bungie not releasea new season or event at all than to see them come out with a half baked season or eventfull of countless missed opportunities.
But those are just my thoughts.
Let me know what you guys think.
Are you enjoying guardian games? Or have you already moved on.
As always guys, thanks for watching, I’llsee you next time.
