Hello.
Shibasaki here.
Is everyone staying home healthy and safe? It’s time to start a “Stay Home and Draw” session.
Today we are drawing a tree.
There are many different kinds of tree out there.
But let’s generalize and draw one with me today.
Of course, what we’re using is a pencil.
Find a pencil and get ready! These are the items we’re using today.
Here they are.
Let’s get started.
To establish the general shape of a tree, draw a half circle.
Represent leaves with squiggly lines like this.
Draw them in a way you like.
As long as it looks like this.
These strong lines are for leaves.
The light diagonal lines are for the shade.
See how I’m drawing the shapes of the leaves? With one pencil, you can draw shapes… …and also shade objects.
Now drawing the shapes.
This way… …you can see the atmosphere that the tree has… …and also the shape of the entire tree.
The other important point is… …see I’m shading dark areas… …but notice that I’m not shading the entire tree.
I’m leaving the light spots unshaded.
You can alternate the light and dark areaslike a sandwich.
Then on this side… I’m now shading it especially strongly.
Because the light source – the sun – is at the top left… …the right side is darker.
If you think you’ve drawn too much… …erase the spot with an eraser and try again.
It should look better here if shaded.
That’ll make the drawing look three-dimensional.
It should look this way.
Because this spot is in the shadow, thrust the pencil strongly against the paper.
It looks more three-dimensional.
And I should add some leaves in the distance… …in a light shade.
To represent the shadow on this side, thrust the pencil strongly.
Now I’m drawing the branches and the trunk.
I’m drawing them this way, but these are all up to you.
Draw the branches and trunk in a way you like.
Draw smooth and straight lines quickly.
Do not hesitate.
This side as well.
A branch can be seen here and there.
I should draw one here as well… …like this.
Feel free to draw your own branches.
See how it’s beginning to look like a tree? This is a way to draw a tree.
Does it need anything else? Another branch like this… And another one here as well.
Well, the tree is coming along.
Isn’t it fun? Are you drawing one? Now I’m adding a road here.
I think it’ll make the drawing more interesting.
And this is a grassy area.
Grass is growing here… …around the tree.
This is another important point… …the shadow of the tree.
Make sure the shadow is drawn on the grass.
How is yours? Are you doing OK? Maybe I’ll draw a house here.
This addition will nicely change the airof the drawing.
Yes, it’s nice… And a little wooded area behind the building.
How’s everyone doing? Are you keeping up? I wonder if little kids are drawing at home.
Draw in whatever way you like… …that’s no problem.
Draw a stronger line for the road toward the front.
This will add a sense of depth… …and show the surrounding environment.
You can draw a landscape picture startingwith one tree.
I hope you are enjoying it.
If you think something is missing, go ahead and add more stuff.
Just enjoy yourself.
See how it’s done? It’s adding atmosphere.
Adding dots will make the roadlook more interesting.
So that’s the landscape with a tree! So that’s it! What did you think of drawing a tree? Well…, …a tree seems a little complicated.
People tend to observe one too much…, …and it’s unexpectedly difficult to graspthe whole picture.
But as you’ve seen, I drew mine in a pretty simple manner.
That’s how you understand the scenery.
I believe you’ve done it in different ways… …but I really hope you’ve enjoyed drawing a treeat home with me.
Well then, I’ll see you very soon.
Stay healthy and safe until then.
In the next video, I will draw an apple.
This will offer you a basic drawing lesson.
Stay tuned.
It’ll provide good training to young students as well.
