optimize to the other items how much searched it is on eat seein Google the prices of the competition the listing quality and also if it's atime-sensitive item like Valentine's Day Halloween or Christmas when does thesearch volume really start to pick up for these items and equally importantlyhow descriptive
of your item is this search term what you want the most isfor someone searching for this term to have a really good idea in mind of whatthey want to buy so for example if someone is searching for the word ringthey really don't know what they want so if
they search they're gonna see a pageof lots of different rings and they'll probably get a bit of an idea and searchsome more if your item shows up there it's actually less likely although thiswill be a high search term it's unlikely that you'll get clicked on however themore descriptive
you are for instance amethyst steampunk engagement ringthat's very descriptive and a person searching for that has a real good ideaof what they're looking for and are far more likely to buy if you're a tomatches what they were thinking of so that's step one find your target andthen step
two is to lock your target you want to create that listing around thattarget phrase where the title as brief as possible eat see does tell us they'relooking for short descriptive titles and you want to have that phrase at thebeginning of your title in the exact order so amethyst
steampunk engagementring or engagement ring amethyst steampunk are not the same if yourkeyword is the first thing then it has to say in the exact order in your titlecheck out this test that I did only a couple of weeks ago now using theanalytics beta that Etsy gives us gives
us a wealth of information here what Idid here was on the exact same day as quickly as I possibly could I made andlisted several almost identical listings I just made certain slight changes nowthe top ranked listing has only the keyword in the titles andthe tags are very specific
only for that keyword so it doesn't have any otherfluff it is saying strongly to eat see that this item is dog ringbearer that'sit nothing else it's not trying to hit every other basis and it ranks thehighest out of all of these listings that are put up ranked number
two theitem had the brief title but the tags also also having dog ringbearer it alsohad other terms that I was aiming for so that's slightly less relevant the thirdhas the longer title and longer tags but the keywords at the front of the titleso it's less relevant it's spreading
your ranking power over several words inthe title so again it's slightly less relevant than the two above it thefourth interestingly enough has the short title but instead of Bearer we'vegone for the plural bearers and if you look at what it sees telling us it'susing for its ranking power
here in the title it's only using dog ring bearersis not counted at all towards Bearer so the plural is being ignored here and thefifth and lowest ranking item here for this phrase dog ring bearers is the onewhere dog ring bearers is at the end of the listing it's
the same in every otherway the tags are exactly the same the titles pretty much identicalit's just our keyword phrase is at the end of the title rather than at thebeginning so simply put an item with mixture of tags and several keywords inthe title might rank a bit for
several keyword phrases if you really wanted torank well if you really wanted to test one keyword phrase you want to focus inon that one first of all get ranking for the one and that's going to give you aboost because it's such an exact match super-secret bonus extra here
do youknow who else likes short titles and specific to the point Google does so ifyou do who is just said here if you go for the short title that's just thekeyword think Google's more likely to rank you too and if you rank on Googleand you bring in traffic
from google guess what Etsy like your itembetter too so it's win-win and step three is takethat shot and you really want to pay attention to this section because we'vegot some extra super-secret tips here taking your shot is publishing your itemyou've got your keywords you know what you're doing
you've made the listinglet's publish it you can increase your shops relevancy for this tag by addingit in your shop description and creating more similar listings and linking fromthe slightly less optimized listing to the most optimized listing all can helpespecially with google search but they all help with Etsy
as well so for yourless optimized listings what you can think about is nested keywords whatthese are is keyword phrases that contain your main keywords within themfor example if I was aiming for a needle felted dog then several listings withspecific dogs for example needle felted labrador dog needle felted
pit bull dogneedle felted Staffie dog or if your keyword is steampunk ring then you couldlook at silver steampunk ring gemstone steampunk ring silver gemstone steampunkring all these can be individual separate listings that are slightlydifferent there are slightly different items but they all feed into this onekeyword phrase they
all help boost each other's ranking but they also reallyhelp boost this one special listing that you're creating so you're not justcreating one item from this keyword phrase you've found you're creating aseries that are all focused in on this keyword phrase but you don't want topublish this series all
in one go all on the same day it's much better if youdrip-feed this out over the course of a week or so they'll be pasting twice aday or if it's a really popular search maybe post in a wee bit more but spreadit out the reasons for this are
first of all an item is going to get a newnessboost in the search for being new and quite often you can get really highpossibly under fit page one for a reasonable search term but that'll dropoff quickly the more the term is searched so that gives each listing afew
hours in the Sun it gives them a few hours on page onefor you to see what listings what pictures do the best and it also keepsyou to the front of your followers feed if people are favoriting your shopyou'll see right there on the homepage eats you'll say what's
new from yourshops and if you put everything out all at once then it will be buried within afew minutes as other people list but if you post in one item every so often thenit has much more chance to be seen to be at the front of that feed
when someonelogs on and you can also build up excitement and social media on yourmailing list if you know you're just about to launch a series they're makingan event tell people you've got a collection of new mice coming out andthey're gonna be coming out over the next week –
up make people excited knowthis is an event you can even make it a limited time event if you wanted sayingthese things are only gonna be out and they're only gonna be around for a monthor two make excitement towards it and now your listings are out there you wantto
give eat see some good data unfortunately no matter how good youritem is if it's not getting any traffic to it then eat see can't tell if it'sany good or not so for instance even if you rank well for a keyword term if it'sup there at a time when
there's just less people searching then theinformation each sees getting doesn't tell it if it's really a quality item ornot and you might drop out a search before people have really had a chanceto see you so for example if your listing is something you can makemultiples of if someone
messages you a private message or a custom requestasking if you can make something and it's pretty much that item then justlink them to that item this is something that I do my custom dog sculptures whenpeople mail me and say can I make this breed of dog I'll say
yes just purchasethis custom listing and that way the custom listing that I've chose gets alot more engagement gets a lot more sales if friends are wanting one insteadof just selling it to them personally give them the link ask them to buy theiryou can give them a coupon code
if you want to give them a bit of a discountbut it's helping you to just get a bit of extra traffic I know people are goingto say but that means I have to pay fees andeverything yes but it's giving you a little boost in SEO that might well
beworth it and it gives you more experience of dealing with listingsdealing with sales if you're new and it can give you some extra feedback scoresit gives you better shop experience score which can help with your entireshop and also in a blog or a social media post about this
item post a littleseries about how you made this item step by step how this items made or how youfound it or what inspired you or how people can use it or display it or whatit's for make it exciting and remember and link to your item and bonus tipespecially
if you're wanting to rank better in Google if you can choose thetext so that you link to an item that's hyperlinked text if you can choose ituse your keyword phrase so the link that people click on is your actual keywordphrase to get to that item although some SEO
people say this is out of dateadvice many people who've been testing this still find it works Googlecertainly gives a little bonus if your exact phrase is the link that you'veclicked and another bonus for Google and something that eats he's working on aswell if you right-click your picture and

betterwhat your item is and wait you are not done yet after a few weeks you want tocheck where your item is ranking you want to check if all the work you didwork in your shop dashboard under marketing the analytics beta you cansearch for the search query the keyword
that you're aiming for and this givesyou how many impressions how many people were searchingthat actually got to see your item this is fantastic information and we're solucky that it sees given at us you can see the average place that you areranking for that search term and also how
many clicks so you can figure out akinna click-through rate how often people clicked when they were showing your itemso how can we use this data so if the impressions are low but your rankingreally high then this tells us that perhaps this wasn't a great keyword notmany people at
this minute in time or searching for it so perhaps we want totry again with a more searched for term if the impressions are high but yourposition your ranking pretty low then this might be a search term that's alittle too competitive for you at the moment in time if
you've done all thebest practices to rank for it and you just aren't ranking for it thenmaybe tray for something slightly easier and come back to this at a later datehowever you could experiment a little more if it's got high impressions try abetter image train focus in even more
