Benjamin Franklin – one of the founders of the United States of America, once said.
.
.
Do you value life? So don't waste you time, as that is what life is made of The time in a day is limited.
1440 minutes, or 46400 seconds, to be exact and if you're like me, then you probably feel like these 1440 minutes are never enough for all the things in a day Even though I know time is valuable, if I were to die tomorrow, my response would be Man, I'm not ready! I haven't finished the goals I've set for myself I'm still not satisfied with the things I've done in my life even though, for a kid 22 years old i've already done a lot of things I've learned 2 foreign languages i've had to opportunity to travel to over 7 countries And I'm growing in a job that is super free and that I really enjoy There's something I've began to realize, which is.
.
.
I always want to do things super fast, because I'm looking forward to the result more than the process I have to go through to achieve it And after achieving the goal, I always ask myself.
.
.
What's next? But if you compare process to the result, the process takes up so much more time than the result So, if we aren't enjoying the process, then.
.
.
what are we enjoying in this life? Okay, maybe you're thinking, Chris.
.
.
I just want to learn English.
.
.
Chinese.
.
.
I just watch your videos cause i wanna learn language Why are you making a video about this? Isn't it a little unrelated? I made this video, because.
.
.
Enjoying the process i think is directly related to the 2 things most important to learning a foreign language, or, doing anything.
Not just for languages.
Which is.
.
.
motivation, and time.
The 2 most important things.
More important that the method, more important than the environment, more important than everything If you don't have motivation to do something sooner or later, you will stop doing that thing.
And time, because If you don't have enough time, then how can you possibly learn? Enjoying the process can solve both of these problems.
Motivation and time.
If you enjoy the process, you'll naturally have motivation to do that thing.
And if you have motivation to do that thing, you'll want to give every free moment you have to do that thing.
And you'll take advantage of your time in a really effective way.
We often ask other people, Do you like.
.
.
doing.
.
.
whatever.
.
.
Do you like English? Do you like learning Vietnamese, Chris? But we rarely think are we asking, whether or not you like the process of doing that thing or do you like the result after finishing that thing? For example, with English If you just want to be good at English, but you don't enjoy the process of learning English.
.
.
doesn't that sound a little bit illogical? I have another feeling that is.
.
.
everytime I finish something.
.
.
or a achieve something, I always seem to think.
.
.
what will I do next? What's next? I think this is human nature.
We always need something to do after we finish doing something else.
And we'll start searching for the next thing to do.
Which can take up our time.
That's human nature.
I have a lot of experience with this concept.
After learning Chinese, I got bored.
There's 1 year out of the 10 I've learned Chinese where I didn't learn or speak Chinese at all.
.
.
even though we may want to be good at something or we're really good at something.
.
.
but we should think.
.
.
after this is done, what's next? What's next? What's coming next? Now I'm done learning Vietnamese, because.
.
.
i'm not enjoying learning anymore.
In the past I really enjoyed the feeling of learning new words, phrases.
.
.
I liked knowing more today than yesterday but now i just enjoy using Vietanmese, even though there are a lot of things i still don't know but I'm not interested anymore.
I just want to use it.
I like learning foreign languages, so.
.
.
After one language I can move onto the next.
but for you, I dunno.
.
.
after you finish something.
.
.
what's next? Are you like me? Where you'll learn another language? maybe after learning English.
.
.
what do you want to do? I hope this isn't just me talking, but a conversation between you and me about this topic.
please comment below and share you experience with this and your feelings.
