hi do you keep doing buggy and all of the exams you take cheese trash after you or to elevate your position in this world and advance your prospects then listen on the game because boy have I got some tips for you [Music] in my four years of medical
school I have done a lot of examples I have learned a lot of things a lot of tips a lot of secrets and today I'm going to share them with you guys okay I got really tired of that character this is an Illumina and back I just want
to share all of my secrets and kind of let you guys know how I do well in my exam the first thing that I recommend is to know the limits of what you need to learn for every exam you take then we'll only be certain things that you
are required to know you can find out what we need to know through looking at your class syllabus or curriculum if one is available I would go through that and make a document that lists up everything you need to know if you are not lucky enough to have
a syllabus or curriculum then lectures are a good thing to go off of you can kind of look at lecture titles and roughly the content they cover and then make your illness of the curriculum you can also use passing some questions to see what's off level date especially
to know things up based on the curriculum or based on your lectures you need to work out what you have to learn you can think of the amount you have to learn as I could buses water you don't want have been lower half the content at the same
time you don't want to load too much and go to too much detail you just want to learn the right amount and when you do that we are making sure that no time is wasted on unnecessary and extra details and you also make sure that you're not missing
up anything but you need to know so tip number one is to know the limits of what you need to love step two is to get to know yourself and I don't mean figuring out which ent f PG q person type you are I mean that you need
to figure out which way of getting information into your head is the best for you exams just test your ability to recall knowledge and the process of getting that knowledge into our heads is a really important step there's a lot of different learning resources out there a lot
ways of obtaining knowledge there's things like lectures and there's textbooks and the students might have written notes there's videos if there's a lot of different streams of information what you need to do is identify which resources you like and which ones work for you for example for me
I spend a lot of time in early years of university we watching lectures trying to pick up information and I realized that nothing was going in and it was such a waste of my time there's also set of textbooks like this one which I really don't like try
an experiment around and figure out what type of thing you like so for me and I like to find a textbook that once me and I find clear and understandable and I also like to use other students notes because I think sometimes students make really good resources just
the right levels but you need to figure out what you like and which resource is helping to absorb information that is key if you're my vision or where to start or which resources to use I would say speak to other students in your year speak to other people
find out what they're using what works for them and try that as well oh my god I hate the textbook the professor recommended do you have any suggestions ha ha ha so I like to use this website let me show you I try to use it the first
few months it just didn't work for me and I don't like you so now we use Kumar Clark's a different textbook and I prefer it so much but you have to be prepared to disregard the learning resource if it isn't working for you so whatever you like humble
wasn't working I stopped using it and I move on to something else ineffective learning method tip number three is to test yourself when your exam starts getting error the best way of quantifying where you are at how you're doing is by doing past questions and just doing them
again and again and again this applies to any topic any subject just see past questions for medicine I like to find a question Bank if you're doing a different subject your your institution should probably have past questions or at least example questions there's always some type of like
question Bank out there and it's important not to just do a question once you have to go through the question by multiple times this is important because every single time you get an answer wrong it sort of kicks you into a sense of urgency and that it's time
to step up your revision and really get the information into your brain the more times you do the questions the more likely you are to remember the answers and then if you get a similar question or a question even involving a similar saw thought process you are so
much more likely to get it right I think it's important that we didn't you just hop in if there's only a set amount of questions you can be asked if you have answered a broad spectrum of questions and you remember the answers there's only so much more than
you can be asked so tip number four is awareness what I mean by awareness is knowing how quickly you have to work to finish all the material and be confident by the timing some problems is my flow in this the way I like to do this is what
I'm starting to think about advising I would literally go into Excel and map out every single date and then in each day I would do a very rough plan of what you want to cover and you can use your syllabus or your curriculum or lecture titles or whatever
to fill in the things and one of the keys to doing well is making sure that you cover each thing more than once so don't just do angina on the first day of your revision and they never cover it again make sure that you spaced out when you're
going to cover things and you repeatedly go to them the more times you repeat them think ultimately you're going to gather there the less time it takes you to cover and the more likely you are to retain information but my permit tip number four is being aware it's
very critical you need to be thinking am i working fast enough am I getting through things as I should be just that process of reflecting and being aware of where you are is really important there's always a lot image of the student who says that the whole night
while there it goes I'm trying to everything in because I haven't finished and if you're aware and you try to pan out before your exam then you can avoid situations like that tip number five is self discipline by self discipline I mean you need to want to do
well and you need to use that pressure and that motivation to push you forward and to get you to go through the material if you are self disciplined you will be able to achieve your goals there's a few ways that you can improve your self discipline I think
one way is to remind yourself of the end goal and to just always repeat in your head this is what I'm working towards and this is why I'm doing what I'm doing and just repeating that can help you refocus and kind of get you back on track another
thing you can do is go to the library and I always find it in the library I work a lot better because I don't go and get snacks every five minutes I don't go to the toilet and mornings where I'm every five minutes I'm too lazy to go
anywhere else my just said that I think what could the stuff well I like to do what I think works well is to find a study buddy but by that I mean someone who you go to library at the same time you take your breaks at the same
time and you kind of motivate each other a study buddy in that sense is really really good I will then take a break with my study buddy friend and then we can talk through a topic I'll discuss something and that way it's a lot more engaging and you
can still learn even when you're tired but tip five is all about being self discipline being motivated reminding yourself of your goals and just being strict with it revising for an exam is a temporary period of time and the results of these examples often have a lot of
waiting they often decide things for our future like getting into the university world to do getting the degree classification we want to exams are pretty important and that's just the way it is I don't like it either but if you follow these tips and you pay attention to
yourself and what works for you you will do better in your exams I hope this is helped I will see you in the next video subscribe right now or else
