If you are NOT proud of the way youorganize your digital travel photos welcome to my worldall I wanted was a single simple straightforward not complicated way oforganizing my digital travel photos so that I could easily access them from myphone my tablet my desktop and also easily find photos to be able to sharethem on social media and with friends and family I decided to ask not just mytravel friends but research what all the professional photographers are doingaround how to organize their travel photos and so in this week's video I'msuper excited to share with you not just the method that I have chosen buteverything I've considered in case something else is right for you ifyou're new here I'm Christine with Where in the World is cL and I make travelvideos every week to help you get up get out and go travel because I lovetraveling I thought I was gonna start small with this organization by doingjust this year's travels but I have 10, 000 photos just from two months oftraveling because in January I was on nine flights in February I had 24 daysof travel but you know what you got to start somewhere in this video I'm gonnabe going through how to organize your photos and then how to store your photosand then maybe the most important part habits to stay organized in the futureand lastly some things to consider doing with your photos because for me I don'tbuy souvenirs when I travel it's all about the memories and it's all aboutthe photos and there's some fun things that you can do with them so stay tillthe end for that let's dive into number one which is how to organize your photosand my goal here is I want to easily be able to find my photos and hands down thenumber one way to do it is to organize it by year by month and then by tripname so an example for me would be 2020 January Spain and then other folderswith all the names of the other trips that I took in January a bonus tip toconsider is whether by trip especially if you have thousands of photos or bymonth or by year have an additional folder called favorites so that you canrefer back to them super easily here's something I saw other people doing itstagging them so whether you have a Windows or a Macyou can right-click on a photo to categorize them however you want whetherby a person's name or by a place or by beach or city etc and I don't want tohave to go through every photo and tag them but I found an automated way to dothat so stay tuned for that lets jump into number two which is about storageoptions again my goal here is that I want my photos to be easily accessibleacross my phone my tablet and my desktop and even if you don't care about havingthem accessible having a storage system in a cloud is something you mightconsider because what if something happens to your desktop or your laptopor your hard drive you want to have it backed up somewhere let's talk about thestorage option contenders because I narrowed it down to these four and inthe end I chose Google but info around pricing amount of free storage you getpros and cons of each one is in the description below which BTW if you'refinding some value in this video please cheers that likes button like buttonbecause it really does help this channel alright let's talk about why I choseGoogle.
there are four reasons why I went with this the first one is because it'sso easy the user interface super straightforward there's nothing tofigure out the second is because sharing if you're on iCloud for example and youshare photos with an Android user that's not a good experience but with Googlephotos it's really easy to share across any platform or any kind of phone thethird reason why is because there's free unlimited photo and video storage yes!that's pretty amazing however the catch is that they compress your photos andvideos to these numbers but if you're like me and you care about keeping theoriginals then their pricing for storage is very competitive and info in thatdescription below the last reason why is because they will categorize your photosfor you I love having things done for me and Google does a great job ofcategorizing by face recognition even for pets so you can search by pets or byyears or by places etc the catch with that is that Google has your data so ifyou care about something like that it may not be the rightother brands that were recommended to me that a lot of which I've never heard ofbefore are in the description below and but for me I cared about going with abig brand that I knew wasn't gonna go out a business any time soonlet's jump into number three which is new habits that I have decided to adoptto stay organized with my photos in the future there's two parts of this thefirst one is I'm going to Marie Kondo the crap out of my photos if you don't knowwhat I'm talking about this book by Marie Kondo has totally beenlife-changing for me around how I think about anything from photos to friendsand I really just asked myself two questions one would I share this photoand two does it bring me joy and would I want to look at this photo again if theanswer is no to either of those delete it the second thing I'm going to do movingforward is a habit of going through my photos while in transport so in otherwords when I'm on the plane when I'm in my uber when I'm in the fill-in-the-blankI'm gonna start going through my photos Marie Kondo-ing them and start toclean them out over time so that I'm not stuck like right now with 10, 000 photosjust from this year and before is things to do with your photos beyond justprinting that Shutterfly photo album mom I know you love to do that but thereare some other things that you can consider doing one of them for me isduring Christmastime I like to print one or two dozen of my favorite travelphotos from the year remember that favorites folder of is talking about andI like to decorate the Christmas tree with them instead of using ornamentsit's a great way of not having to own Christmas ornaments and a great way ofremembering and reminiscing on all the travel that happened from that year sothat's something to consider I also put an article in the description of one ofmy favorite places to learn about other fun things to do yeah yeah yeahorganized travel photos hope you enjoyed this video CHEERS that like button but Iknow you already did and consider subscribing and share it it really doeshelp this channel I'm here every week with new travel videos tell me I want toknow in the comments how do you organize your photos are you gonna try some ofthese methods I'm here every week I'll see you in the next adventure .
