But I want to tell you this, when mind attacks come, you should regard them as really great opportunitiesto check in with something.

Because first of all, who or what is the mind attacking? It is very important.

Because the mind really, can only attack the idea you have of yourself.

It can only attack your person, or your ego, or self image.

] It is all the same thing.

[Mooji] It cannot attack the pure consciousness.

It is just another phenomenon that comes, the mind, the person, the world, all our feelings.

It is all coming inside the consciousness, but consciousness is not disturbed.

It is like space.

Space is here.

However many things you plant in space, space doesn't move overfor you to put the things in.

The space is here.

And your Self is that.

The consciousness is like that.

So when we have mind attacks, and so many people speak about it, it is because the mind is attackingwho you think you are.

Otherwise you would not be upset.

If the mind is attacking somebody elseyou don't worry about it.

If the mind is attacking you, 'Oh no!' What is the attack made of? The attacks, generally, are all about .

They are personal.

] Yes, it was very personal.

] Yes.

[Q.

] But I knew at the same time, it is only because I am holding this loyaltyto a personal identity that it is able to get me on these things.

And so, sometimes I was able to see that, but sometimes, I kept getting caught up in it, and identifying with it again.

And the strangest thing was, sometimes, even in the strongest feelings of the attack, I could feel the sense of the bliss of my own presence, at the same time, not as a pendulum going in and out of it, but simultaneously, at the same time.

] But then, again I would be caught up.

[Mooji] This is what is experiencedby every sincere seeker of Truth.

Once you have discoveredthat you are not merely the person, but the greater consciousnessin which the person appears and disappears, once you know that, something changes inside your being.

The sense of presence grows more strong, and that is why you can say that, even in the strongest pulsation of the mind, it was simultaneously there, the presence was there, but somehow attention keeps jerkinginto the activity of the mind.

[Mooji] The first thing I wanted to say today is that, it is important to really be observing thiswith some detachment.

And don't identify with the person.

Why? Because the person, and the noise around the person, are observable.

By this you should recognise that this is something phenomenal, this is something being watched.

And that should begin to take the sting out, to remove the poison.

The poison is that, when you strongly identify with something, you feel it much, much more heavy, more strong.

You see? This is a very important partof your spiritual training, that you keep being reminded, 'But I am observing this'.

Even when the mind is pulling, and you feel very strongly identified, as you keep being reminded, I am saying, not just remembering, but being reminded, because the more you affirm through experience, that wait, you are observing something, the distance between the activity, and the observing presence is more open.

And you will begin to be reminded spontaneously, from that awareness part, that you are watching this.

It gets stronger and stronger.

And that needs to happen, because when it gets very, very mature, you will find that the mind attacks will weaken, and eventually they cease, because that has to happen.

As long as those attacks happen, and they have a virility, they have a meaning, they have an impact, it indicates that the personal presenceis still active, because the person and the mind-stuff, they go together.

When you observe, you are observing with some detachment, and in that place of detachment the presence is more there.

When you are aware of presence, when you are back in your presence, then those effects of the mindwill feel more distant.

It is like you are coming out of a storm.

The storm is passing.

But we are not doing thisto escape from the storm.

We are using the stormto recognise our own natural stillness, rather than to stop suffering the storm, 'Oh, oh, please .

' As long as you are identified with the one who is in the storm, as long as that keeps happening, then you just want to stop the storm.

But I am saying, use the storm.

When you use the storm, it means that you are using it to check in, 'Where is my true position? Am I the person, or that which is earlier than the person, that observes the person?' That is really the crucial workthat you must stay at, otherwise this sense that people say, 'Oh, but my mind keeps doing .

' I say, no!You should not complain about the mind.

You should use the mind as a mirrorto see where your true place is.

You are the one .

You are not the .

.

.

You are the one looking.

You are not the one looked at.

In fact, your Self, you cannot really see, because it's not a form or shape.

You can only be That.

You are already That.

That's where you are looking from.

This is why I give all this kind of adviceand encouragement, to confirm you cannot create the Self, or improve it.

You can only recognise, 'But this is my True place!' And it is always the place of the constant.

It is always present.

The person comes and goes.

The person's troubles come and go.

They come and go together.

It is very important to stay with that.

It is the mind itself that is complainingabout the mind.

When we say, 'I want it to stop.

Please take it away.

I don't want to experience.

' This one who is saying thatshould not be trusted.

That is a part of the ego, and identity also.

] I kind of almost knew that at the time.

I wasn't praying for it to be taken, but I was just really hopingto be able to put that distance between my true Self and this identity that was seeming to be completelytaking over the whole thing.

That will grow, both in the sense of distancing, at first, and the distancing is related to the identity.

The less identity, the more distance.

Eventually, there won't even bea question of distance, because the Self is not one placeand the mind is some place else.

The Self is everything! So, the talk of distance and separation is in the early stages, when we still have the sense of our self as being an entity witnessing the mind.

But we are actually watching from the pure formless spaciousness of awareness.

That will grow much much more, but right now, the important thing to remember is that, the one who is being attacked is our self image.

It is the one with the lineage, the one who is, I would say .

The reference for the self is our person, and our body, and stuff like that.

Whereas, awareness is beyond gender.

It is beyond race.

It is beyond all these things.

It is formless.

It is pure! Everything exists in it, but it is untouched by them, at the same time.

It gives life to them, but it is also beyond them.

It is in them and it is beyond them.
