In this video we're gonna talk about how to promote your YouTube channel for free and get your first thousand subscribers fast.
And you don't want to be like this weird chick, screaming at the top of her lungs at her neighbor saying “Subscribe to my channel! Subscribe, Yeah, Marissa Romero, please please subscribe to the channel!” Who is that chick anyway? Weird! Now I say this from experience, the first thousand subscribers are the hardest to get they are going to take the longest out of your entire growth of the life of your channel.
So from zero to a thousand, it's difficult.
It's long, it takes a while but from a thousand to 10k, it's much faster and from 10k to 50k it's even faster than that, because once your growth gets going on YouTube, I promise it's exponential because that is how growth on YouTube works.
It's kind of like a domino effect, it just keeps going getting bigger and bigger and bigger.
So the first free method we're talking about that'll help grow your channel to the first thousand subscribers is.
.
.
.
rhymes with brick, and with clock, you guessed it- that's Tiktok.
Yes, I just started my- well, okay, not just- I started a few months ago, haven't really done with anything with it but I plan to for sure and why do I say this? Because there's 800 million monthly active users worldwide, it has the most downloads I think like 33 million downloads which is the most in the Apple Store and, on average, TikTok users use the app 52 minutes per day.
That's almost an hour, that's a long time! My partner watches TikTok forever, more than that, probably like two hours, but the point is one of my creator friends named Delania, she did an experiment recently where she wanted to grow her TikTok and see how viral she could go, and she ended up growing to 10, 000 followers on TikTok within three weeks, not kidding.
This is all organic because you can't pay for growth on TikTok right now, but that is how explosive the virality is on the app and how fast it is growing and how fast you can go viral on the app.
So that is why I am hopping on TikTok right now.
No, I'm not a 19 year old teenager and no, I'm not funny but that's not keeping me from learning the platform and learning how to drive even more traffic to my YouTube channel.
And so with TikTok there's only two links you can put and have in the description and that is your Instagram, and the other one is, yes, you guessed it, YouTube.
So, TikTok, think of it as a giant traffic source that is going viral right now where you can promote your YouTube channel for free and help get those first thousand subscribers fast.
Before we get into number 2, If you haven't already, please join the family, subscribe to the channel, hit the notification bell, and give this video a like.
It helps support videos on the channel just like this one.
And some super exciting news, I'm finally dropping my subscribers to sales YouTube course which helps entrepreneurs build, grow, and scale their wildly profitable YouTube channel, and that course drops within the next seven days.
So be sure, if you have not already, go ahead and download the blueprint so you can get on the wait list and be one of the founding members of the course because there is a huge discount for the founding members.
Alright, so the second way to grow your YouTube channel and promote it for free is to use keywords.
It's so easy to put keywords on and in your videos because YouTube is a giant search engine and needs to be treated like one.
So Google is the number one search engine in the world, and YouTube is owned by Google so it's the second largest search engine in the world and you should treat it that way.
So you have to use keywords in your title, use secondary keywords when you're uploading a video, and a good way to understand how and where to get keywords, a free thing you can do is type in, in the search engine, a certain phrase.
So, for example, if you type in “Vegan recipes” You'll see a drop-down menu of a whole bunch of keywords that are below vegan recipes and those keywords are the most searched on YouTube.
So you can grab those keywords and use them as secondary keywords when you upload your video in the tag section, or you can use one of those keywords that you're seeing as one of the keywords in your title.
I just said keywords like so many times, my bad.
And if you want to take it up a notch, you want to use an algorithm tool like my favorite algorithm tool which is Tubebuddy, that helps you narrow it down to a winning keyword and title even more because it has all the data about the keyword, if it's poor, good, fair, excellent.
So that's an even better indicator for choosing keywords and making your content searchable in the search engine.
The next free method to promote your new YouTube channel is to do collaborations, and this is a very excellent way to cross-promote each other's audiences and YouTube channels and social medias because you're leveraging someone else's audience who, probably, will be interested in subscribing to your channel and viewing your content.
So this is a method that will never go away.
It's very helpful at all stages of your online business, I still do collaborations, and so the way it works is you would contact another creator by email, by phone number, or maybe you know other creators in your market or industry or niche that would be willing to do a collab video.
So the way it would work is you would do a video on their channel and vice versa and then you would cross promote the videos on each other's channels so that way you would grow faster because the more outside views, meaning links outside of YouTube and with other outside sources, that your video has the algorithm's like “Oh this video must be popular.
Let's promote it even more.
” So this is how you get more exposure to your YouTube videos very simply and its really nice because that creator gets value from your audience and vice versa, so it's something I highly recommend you start doing now and also in the future as you're growing your YouTube channel, your online presence, your online brand, Etc.
Etc.
The fourth thing that we're talking about today is Facebook groups.
So there's so many Facebook groups and every single day new Facebook groups are created.
So the key with this is you want to find a Facebook group within your niche that's really specific with the content you're delivering on your channel and the problem you're trying to solve, so you don't want to be spammy, go into the group and start, posting links every single day.
That's not the way it works.
But the way it would work is you would go into a Facebook group, get to know the people in there, and start answering questions about different things that they ask in the group and then you can say “Oh by the way, If you want to message me I can give you a video that explains exactly this” and then you could connect with them in Messenger and send them different YouTube videos and they'll subscribe to your channel, they'll like your videos and they'll say “Hey, like this is really good, ” then they'll start recommending you to other people and then their friends will recommend you to their friends by word of mouth, it keeps growing like that.
So the great thing about Facebook groups is also you get to learn more about your audience and what pain points they are trying to solve by what questions they're asking, so it's really a win-win because you get to grow your channel and you get to learn more about your audience.
And so the same thing applies with also Instagram, LinkedIn, Reddit, Quora, any other social media that you have, you want to take advantage of any audience that you have, even if you only have 100 Instagram followers and you think that's too little, definitely put your youtube links in the bio because those are clicks that you're missing out on.
I had a student who had a super large LinkedIn network, and it was super cool because he was promoting his new YouTube videos on his new channel, and he got to his first 50 subscribers super fast, I think within a week, because that audience on LinkedIn was really interested in what he was teaching on his channel.
So the next way to grow your YouTube channel for free is to use your email list.
Now some of you may or may not have an email list, and if you do, if you have only ten emails, you need to be emailing that list because it's super important and good practice, one, to email your list and give them value but, two, those people are going to open up your email, and click on the video, and watch it.
And so let's say you have 100 email subscribers, if the common open rate is 20 percent, that's 20 people that are opening and clicking on your YouTube videos, so that's potentially 20 views, or more, if they decide to comment and share it with their friends.
You never know how many use your going to get from one click.
Now the next method is extremely important and that is consistency.
Now don't be like this weird girl on the balcony and have this type of attitude.
“I have 25 subscribers, can you be my 26th? Subscribe please, please!” We don't want that, we want consistency.
I recommend, minimum, of posting one video per week.
And if you can do more, the more the better.
If you can post two videos a week, great.
I personally post two videos a week, it's a frequency that I can manage very well, and it helps my channel grow that much faster.
And so you really have to be serious about this, especially in the beginning, especially with your first hundred, five hundred, and a thousand subscribers because, like I said, It's going to seem super slow in the beginning, but you have to stick with it.
I promise it gets faster and faster and faster, the growth.
The next thing you can do to promote Your YouTube channel for free is to leave thoughtful comments.
There's a difference between thoughtful comments, and engaging comments, and spam comments.
Again, you don't want to go to other people's videos and start promoting links and all this other trash.
It's super annoying when you go to other people's channels and you're like “sub4sub and blah blah blah.
” That's not a good look for your brand and it's not very professional, and it's not a sustainable way to grow the channel.
You want to leave comments that, again, help answer people's questions, that are thoughtful, and if you can direct people to your channel in a professional way, like “Hey, well I also posted a video about the top ten vegan recipes, you can check it out here!” Nothing wrong with that at all.
So, if you're liking this video, I know you're gonna like this video that is coming up next.
It's about the top 10 things you should be doing before you start your YouTube channel.
So that video starts right now.
There's tons of things you can sell on your YouTube channel and you have to be prepared right away to start promoting those things as soon as you launch your channel.
