[Music] Transylvanians by Romans Hungarians Ottomans and even the Mongols managed to invade for some time in addition to its strong Hungarian and Romanian heritage Transylvanian was a strong Saxon heritage dating back to their arrival in the Middle Ages this heritage is felt very strongly the small city called CBU surrounded by natural wonders of mountains lakes and endless forests I really love about TV or the houses but always seem to like be watching you because of the eyes but they also remind you from that movie haunted house with the lake house a the three kids you know CPU is known as one of the most important fortified towns in Transylvania first known as Cydonia and then destroyed by the Tatars in a brutal attack leaving only a hundred survivors then it was discovered by the Saxons and ruins of the 12th century trade eventually flourished and the city became one of the main cultural hubs of Transylvania because of its kilts the legacy of the medieval guilds are still seen all over the city like in this poll made up with the final creations of students who are trying to join a guild and metal craft making the Saxons built a strong defensive wall surrounding the city after many attempted attacks through the following centuries by the Turks it was never quite conquered the inside of the city is just as impressive as the fortification that surrounds it CPU is divided into upper town votes for the wealthy and lower town for the lower classes the upper town is made up of beautiful medieval interlocking squares so this is piata Vladdy which is the big square in p a tamale you can find the broken doll museum built in Baroque style the roman catholic church built 150 years after the Reformation when the oceans need to power or decide to stroll down struggle at malesko a very lightly street then there's Pieta Mincha a small square where you can find the counselor daily but in the 13th century the pharmacy museum or the bridge of lions so this is the liar's bridge the first bridge made out of iron in transylvania so people back in the day we're kind of scared of it so then they just kind of came up with the idea that if you lie on the bridge it will break and it will collapse so if you walk around some things you're gonna see our beautiful fortifications colorful houses medieval arrests creepy dolls and the large amount of religious diversity due to the history of different groups of people who settled in Cebu and their respective places of worship all within walking distance from one another some examples to visit is the lutheran cathedral built to the 14th century which for three centuries held the burial site for many mayors Earl's and other notable people and then my favorite the Holy Trinity Cathedral which we'll see after lunch now I'm naked I'm at CBU bitches I probably pronounced that wrong it's this cute little Russia which is underground and it's supposed to be typical Romanian food [Music] [Music] the food it's delicious this place is a death and it must if you have to CPU an interesting custom that I found together we don't really do anywhere else is that they'll bring you the bread right you won't ask for the front they'll bring you the bread and then they'll count up the number of sizes that you eat and they'll charge you for it even though you never ask you the other day in a city with such strong German heritage you have to pay a visit with symbol of Romanian faith the Holy Trinity Cathedral it all started when Emperor Franz Joseph gave 1, 000 gold coins to the construction in 1902 of a orthodox cathedral built in a Byzantine style pretty cool [Music] so another cool thing about CPU is the fact that they're going to celebrate I think the 450 of the year on religious tolerance the wedding that's taking place is being done by a Catholic minister in an Orthodox Church personally one of my favorite things to do is visit this old passageway that connects Upper Town and Lower Town leading to the Goldsmith Square just imagine here in 1567 a bunch of Goldsmith's merchants and artisans all gathering and lining their shops to be able to sell their products [Music] whole thing that's going on right now in Sibiu is that they're having a theater festival so as you can see it's pretty booked but at least we get free theater in the square at 10:00 p.
m.
so that's what we're gonna go do now go watch some theater and become culture [Music] so this is the end of the video on CPU yes I was in Transylvania a while ago and I have a video out on everything I did in Transylvania is the Corvin Castle I went to an amusement park underground in an abandoned salt mine I know insane so many castles so many things to do I decided to do a full video on CPU because it is a beautiful little town which I just really really really enjoyed and I'm running out of material so if you guys want more videos on the little towns I visited in Transylvania please let me know now that going to Transylvania might seem a little hard right now I get it Kove in nineteen is screwing us all over but hopefully things will let up soon and eventually you guys get a chance to go because it's amazing and super cheap and is so cool and such an underrated destination which people normally don't visit and you should because it's so cool so I hope you guys give this video a thumbs up you subscribe and you move on to your next video which just hopefully happens to be one of mine okay just move on video bye.
