Is Coronavirus destroying our travel plans? The end for our van life in 2020? | Vanlife in Europe

hi guys we hope you're all doing welland that you're all safe and staying at home due to the current situation withcoronavirus we wanted to talk about if it's gonna affect our traveling plans inthis video so in case you're new year we've built this whole van by ourselvesand we've been traveling in it for the past few months and then for the wintermonths we've rented an apartment and then our original plan was to move backinto the van and to continue to travel but now with the current situation withcoronavirus that's a little difficult so now the question is if that will affectour travelling plans and the answer is yes so actually when Corona started weplanned to continue our travels and just to stay in nature stay away from bigcities and stay away from people as much as possible and then we thought okaythat would be possible if we just move from one stop in the nature to the nextone and yeah just focus more on the nature instead of big cities and so onbut the first problem is that you cannot really cross borders right now so we arecurrently still in Portugal and actually we wanted to visit cities like Lissabon and Porto and so on and just drive in the north of Portugal then cross theborder to Spain and then visit the north coast of Spain but and the problem isthat you are not really allowed right now to cross borders just for travellingso if you want to cross the border to Spain you probably have to sign apaper where you guarantee that you are only on the way to your home country soit's not really allowed to cross the border just to stay in Spain fortraveling so we've decided that we will drive home because first of all it'sdifficult to cross borders and to just travel like you are used to travel andalso we have changed our plans a little bit and this is actually good newsbecause we already thought of building another van because as you know in thisvan we don't have a shower and we don't have heating options that was the reasonwhy we had to rent an apartment for the winter months and yeah we alreadythought of building another van with an inbuilt shower and with heating and withmore solar panels on the roof so that we can really live and travel full-timein it so that's why we thought it would be better to drive home to Germany rightnow sell our van buy another one and to our second vanconversion already I know it sounds kind of weird because it's not even one year ago that we finished this van it was in August so in July in August we started travelling last year and yeah wehave been traveling for three and a half months and then we moved into our apartment here in Portugal so of course it wasn't a very long time that we've been travelling in this van but we justdecided that we want to go one step further and build a van in which we canreally live full-time and our plan was anyway to build a new van so it doesn'treally make a difference if we are gonna do it now or in one year or a few months so yeah we can just do it now like that we can also use the time when the wholecoronavirus situation is still that bad so yeah like that we are just gonna be ableto use our time way better and then when everything's good and back to normalhopefully we can just continue to travel yes because actually it doesn't make adifference if we're traveling now and then building a new van or if we justswitch it so you can definitely be excited because of course we will make videosabout our new van conversion so we're not sure if everything will work outlike that but if we sell this van and find somebody who wants to buy it and ifwe have enough money for our new van conversion then then we are pretty surethat we will do it and then of course we will make a lot of videos about that andwe both are already very motivated for the next van conversion so it seems tobe kind of an addiction if you build one you have to do it over and over againyeah and I think we just learned a lot from the first van conversion and nowit's just time for us to upgrade it to the next levelso that we can really live full-time in a van so we want to buy a van that's alittle wider because we want to build in our bed crosswise so that we get a littlemore space for a seating area because in this van this is only one meter and 70centimeters and I'm one meter 87 one meter87 so yeah you can see it it's I can sit like this but I could never sleep in thatdirection okay we also have the shelf here but yeah okay I'm coming back soI've actually already designed a rough layout for our next van with a designingprogram and we've also come up with some cool ideas so stay tuned for that okayso that's it for this video we just wanted to give you a quick little updateabout our situation because a lot of people who are.
