I've started the day one in Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, the largestcity of Myanmar, where I spent two days.

A lot of people ask me how safe is Yangon and i'm happy to answer is considered one of the safest city in Asia.

There are couple of things to see and do in Yangon but i consider only one is a must.

Shwedagon pagoda is a symbol of the city in the most sacred Buddhist pagodain Myanmar.

Believed to have been built around 2600 years ago, the main domestands at the 99 meters tall and is plated with shining gold and diamonds.

to catch the sunrise at 6:20 to beat the crowds.

I was expecting to see only few people so i can make some nice pictures.

I was very surprised to seehundreds if not thousands of local people coming to pray and to give theirofferings.

There are absolutely loads of things to see here so I recommend you tocome at sunrise or sunset when you can the gold and diamonds sparkle.

The dress code is very important.

You must wear trousers or at least knee-length shorts or skirt; T-shirts with elbow length sleeves are also expected and you are expected to be barefooted when entering Shwedagon Pagoda.

If youdon't have appropriate trousers you you can rent a longyi from the entry for a 3.

000 MMK(2$) deposit.

From Yangon you have different options to go north: you can go either Ngapali Beach by bus or to visit Kyaiktiyo Pagoda and then to stop to Law Pi Ta Waterfalls, but I've decided to go straight to Inle Lake, one of the most amazing places in Myanmar and a must see.

Took an 11h night bus from Yangon with Elite Express VIP class for 24300 (17$) but if you are in a budget you can find it as cheap as 16000 MMK (11$).

After arriving in Nyaung Shwe, the main town near Inle Lake I booked a full day trip for 9000 MMK and we went to the lake.

You have the option to book for 9000 with visiting shops or 18000 without shops.

I strongly suggest you to pick “with shops” because they are not taking you only in the shops workshop too so you can see exactly howthey are making this stuff like tobacco silver jewelry and textiles.

About at the launch time we went to a restaurant where we had a delicious traditional lunch, whichis not included in the price of the trip.

Last destination before watching thesunset was the Shwe Indein Pagoda, a place which can't be missed.

Just before to go back to the hostel we stopped to take some pictures with thefisherman's.

But just before to go in this kind of adventure i suggest you torent a motorbike, you can find one with about ten dollars a day and drive about 1.

5-2 hours and visit Pindaya Caves.

On the next day which in the most ofthe day I visited the winery which is around 25 minutes biking from our hostel.

We also had a wine tasting for only 5000 kyat.

Inle Lake is famous for its 2 days trekking to Kalaw, but not as popular as the opposite way three days trekking fromKalaw to Inle Lake.

Apparently, from our direction to Kalaw you going up to the mountain.

We started the trekking as a 3 people group.

We have been picked up from the hostel at 8:30am and after an almost hour of transfer with tuktuk we arrived in a village where we havestarted the trekking.

We crossed through several villages with few stops for lunchand arrived in a village where a traditional meal and a place to sleep.

Next day was shorter because we left at the same time in the morning and withall the stops and lunch we arrived In Kalaw at about 3 p.

m.

I do encourageyou to do this trips since you can see a lot of things on the way, villagesworking on the plantation fields and a stunning view.

For the whole trip with 3 meals every day, transportation and a place to sleep, we paid each 45.

000 kyat, about 30$.

Next day we left Kalaw and we went to Bagan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, about 270 km away and a 7h bus trip.

The bus fare is about 9-10$.

What is Baganfamous for ? Well, there are just over 2, 000 pagodas, stupas and temples, most of thembeing built by the Asian kings and the leaders of Burma.

I recommend you to stayat least 3-4 days and rent a scooter since the area with the temples is about 40 square miles and you can also have a one-day trip to Mount Popa, a famous extinct vulcano for its 777 steps to Popa Taungkalat Monastery, home of 37 burmese spirits and one of the most amazing viewpoints in Myanmar.

Bagan is very famous for watching the sunrise and sunset, but please check withyour accommodation provider for what pagodas are still climbable, sinceBurmese authorities banned tourists for climbing most of the pagodas.

Also fromOctober until April you can see the hot-air balloons flying over Bagan.

Sunrise is when most rides are offered, as the cooler morning temperatures allow balloons to float closer to the ancient stupas and pagodas.

If you are interested in a hot air balloon ride, for a 45 to 60 minutes ride, expect to pay about 250$ to 350$ per person.

From Bagan to Mandalay you can take a train or a bus.

We've decided to take a bus because it's much cheaper andfaster, about 9, 000 kyat and a 6-hours drive.

Mandalay is the second largest city in Myanmar and the home of Royal Palace of Konbaung Dynasty.

It took the name Mandalay based on the 236-metre high Mandalay Hill.

We're at the Mandalay Hill now, one of the main attraction in Mandalay.

You can see the viewpoint from here and finishes after a long walk with a pagoda.

Mandalay is full of things to do and to see, both inside and outside the city.

Among most of the popular things to do insideMandalay are visiting Mandalay Hill, Mandalay Palace, Kuthodaw Pagoda, Mahamuni Buddha Temple, Atumashi Monastery, wood carving and stone carving on the Marble Street.

You can rent a motorbike or if you are a small group, you can rent a minibus or tuktuk to go outside of Mandalay for a day trip.

Wewere 8 people and we arranged a minibus day trip for 8000 kyat each.

I suggest youto do so, since there are so many things to do and to see just outside ofMandalay.

The most important are my Myatheindan Pagoda, an extremely white beautiful building which looks like water waves.

Next to see is Pahtodawgyi Pagoda, also known as Mingun, an incomplete monument stupa which dates from 1790.

In front of the pagoda and facing the river are the remains of two giant Chinthe lions.

Another important attraction is Sagaing Hill, which hosts many pagodas, monasteries and meditation centers.

A spectacular sight is U Min Thounze Pagoda, next to the Soon U Ponya Shin Pagoda and the Sagaing Buddha Cave.

After all these pagodas you probably feeling tired and you want to go back toaccommodation, but not before watching the sunset at U-Bein Bridge, believed to be the longest and oldest teak wood bridge in the world.

It stretches out for 1.

2km, which is pretty impressive for a bridge that has been built over 150 years ago.

There are some other attractions in Myanmar and Mandalay, but bythe time of shooting this video i had to leave the country since the covid-19 coronavirus hysteria made almost impossible traveling with most of the countries closing their borders and not extending visa in some cases.
