I think about it–just take a minute andbreathe.
.
.
and take it in, right? *music* Hey you guys! Thanks for joining us on another journey Today we're in Greece and we just gotdone visiting Sounion you sound japanese–it's not japanese, it's Greek.
anyway if you're new to the channel, this is April and I'm Wayne.
So sitback, relax and enjoy the journey! *music* Where are we at April? Archaeological Site of Sounion, this is the Temple of Poseidon–look at that sailboat.
oh yeah Quintessential, you know? Ruins in one shot–modern–to turn to the sailboat on the sea in the other.
Yup.
I think about it–just take a minute and breathe.
.
.
and take it in, right? it's pretty spectacular, wouldn't you say? yeah it is spectacular.
with that ocean breeze.
.
.
You know what blows my mind is what had preserved it? is it the ocean air that has helped preserve it? probably–yeah it's probably just becauseof the granite that it's made out of.
the marble? yeah marble, granite I'm notsure what it is.
The history.
.
.
it's pretty profound *music* This one, this one Oh, thank you so much.
You're welcome That's so very kind of you What is that? He said it's a traditionalChristmas vegetable that they use for good luck.
oh really? and what do you call it? I can't find the right one for the–in the English one You eat the root? Or you just eat the leaves? No, no–you cannot eat it You just decorate it Oh, it's a decoration Sorry that's me saying vegetable.
.
.
You decorate it.
Ah, this is perfect, I will give this to my friend in Athens So you would decorate it and what would be decorated? yes I will decorate this for good luck.
What do you put on it? Nothing you put it outside from the door.
Oh so it's almost like mistletoe–or similar to mistletoe.
There are more.
Oh ok.
You need to have good properties that you can put it–soil.
.
.
Gotta have the right environment.
.
.
beautiful, thank you.
.
.
*music* what is it? the temple seen today wasbuilt between 444 and 440 BC on a terrace constructed from the marble of adestroyed temple from 480 BC.
can you believe that? so the original was builtby the Persians and it was destroyed before being completed so then when they came they found plenty of votive objects buried and then they rebuilt on thefoundation.
that's crazy.
That's so freakin' cool! *music* You feel that humidity? oh yeah–I think this would be better on your back.
that's kind of what I was thinking, take the handicap spot because I'm old and decrepit.
.
.
Well that sounds racist.
What sounds racist? To say take the handicapped way when you're old and decrepit.
Dogging on the handicapped.
Well I'm feeling handicapped.
I'm just so glad to not be sitting on the plane.
right? Very cool.
yeah.
I think well worth the 10 Euros It was 5 euros a piece to get there–for entrance–yeah *music* what's the name of the restaurant? *Greek pronunciation* Say that, Wayne Say that one more time? *Greek pronunciation* I'm not gonna even try it, that's so awesome Yeah, you say it very well.
So pretty to hear it in Greek.
Yes No, don't even try it It's this.
.
.
thank you, thank you.
I wasn't even trying that one yeah.
Ohh, I'm so excited to have Greekolives in Greece! Right? Hell yeah! Big ol' piece of feta.
Man that is such a pretty salad every time an olive now all I think of is our Airbnb host that where we were in Montenegro the way he said olive.
.
.
.
.
.
I noticed when I eat feta at home I can't have as big of chunk of it.
Ilike you have to use less of it because it's too salty Want more cucumber?oh yeah.
Mmm, that cucumber is so good The feta's creamier as well.
.
.
Oh my god, this is like.
.
.
surrreal did you ever think (to quote you, you like to do that with me) did you ever think you'd be eating a Greek salad in Greece? yeah? I've always wanted to come here.
I know–but I also want to go everywhere so– yeah Oh, look at this Oh wow, it's so beautiful Oh yum.
Is that cheese? yes, thank you.
So it's like spaghetti and shrimp.
But you know the spaghetti should probably be good here We are near Italy.
Well I think.
.
.
They make a lot of similar spaghetti food in Greece as well.
It's like more al dente.
yeah–I like it.
I actually prefer it that way It's tasty.
yeah it's definitely on a–milder than my spaghetti.
It's just not burn your mouth off flavor like you liketo do! Everything should have lots of peppers.
Lots of pepper, lots of garlic I don't understand why European food is so much better than American food.
I guess we just mess with our food too much it'sreally what it boils down to– it's too processed– I think in Europe in general I thinkpeople are more.
.
.
Americans are more consumers, right? we need more crap butit's not quality, its quantity we don't need something that's good quality, we just need a lot of crap right–Where everywhere we go, they have smaller places, smaller houses, smaller things, less clutter right But we have lots of garbage, like you can't even find the store to go buy something in, you know it's like, just trying to find a regular store is much different than the US whereeverything is like a strip mall I saved you a shrimp, I see that What does cooking it in the shell do? Well they just left the head on it oh it's the head.
does it leaveflavor, does it I have no idea, it's more I think more of a picture.
Oh We just got doneeating lunch–linner–amazing, well yeah, linner.
we're not sure what time it is it's like 3 o'clockin the afternoon here, but our bodies don't know what time it is.
still onAmerican time.
I was hungry Anyway we ate lunch, it was a shrimp andpasta meal.
we had two house wines and oh my goodness! A fresh Greek salad, yeah 26 euros.
