in this video you're going to learn about an SEO strategy that actually works in fact I use this exact strategy to boost my organic traffic by a hundred and seventy five point five nine percent in less than a month and this technique is one of the main reasons
that I ranked number one in google for the keyword on-page SEO I'm brian dean the founder of backlinko the place where marketers turn for higher rankings and more traffic and today I'm going to walk you through the process that I used to get that number one ranking step
by step keep watching a while back I published an infographic on my site on-page SEO anatomy of a perfectly optimized page not to brag but this infographic was awesome it had lots of unique actionable tips that have never read about anywhere else and I knew this piece of
content could generate the type of high quality backlinks that get you to the top of Google fast there was only one problem no one knew that it existed hello I just published a new infographic hello that's when I decided to execute the strategy that I mentioned earlier and
my backlinks traffic and rankings shot through the roof I call this SEO strategy guest Oh graphic and now it's time for me to walk you through this step-by-step process your first step is to create and publish a high-quality infographic I probably don't need to tell you that people
love sharing and linking to infographics in fact a recent industry study by buzzsumo found that infographics generate significantly more shares than blog posts or videos and for guests so graphics to work you need to publish a high-quality infographic on your site as you'll see later you can turn
this single infographic into dozens of white hat backlinks fortunately creating a great infographic isn't as hard as you might think for example from my infographic I realized that content about advanced on-page strategies we're getting a lot of links and shares so I wrote out my 16 best on-page
SEO tips and I sent those tips to a freelance graphic designer that specialized in info six and that designer turn my list of tips into a nice-looking infographic now here's a secret most people focus ninety-nine percent of their energy on the design of the infographic and it's a
big mistake yes your infographics design is important but if your topic and content missed the mark your entire infographic will fail no matter how nice it looks so let me show you a quick process that you can use to easily create and design awesome infographics first find a
topic in your industry that people care about you can probably already list out a handful of popular topics in your niche but if you're stuck you can use a tool like buzzsumo to see the best performing content in your space you can also use Google News just type
a few keywords into Google News and see what pops up next it's time to list out your absolute best tips and tactics remember because this is an infographic you don't have a ton of space to work with so make sure to only include your absolute best 10 to
20 tips in my case I realized that most people already knew about basic on-page advice like include a keyword in your title tag so I made sure that my tips were mostly advanced lesser-known techniques like use LSI keywords now it's time to turn your tips into a logical
layout in my experience your infographics layout is ten times more important than the design now your layout is how you organize and present your content designers often call this the wireframe design is how your content actually looks so what layout should you use here's a framework that I
use for most of my infographics and it works great finally it's time to turn your layout into an attractive design now we don't recommend trying to do this yourself hundreds of infographics come out every single day and for yours to stand out it needs to have a pro
design fortunately you can easily find a pro designer on freelance sites like upwork and 99 designs just make sure that whoever you hire specializes in infographic design in fact before I decide on designer I always ask them to send me a portfolio of infographics that they've already done
so why is this important info graphic design is a specialized skill I've hired designers with amazing talent that sent me terrible infographics but when you see a portfolio full of attractive infographics you increase the odds that your designer will deliver once you have your infographic in hand publish
it on your site and move on to step number two which is to find people that want to see your infographic look when most people publish a piece of content they cross their fingers and hope that it goes viral please go viral please go viral please go viral
but SEO professionals know that content promotion is huge specifically promotion that focuses on blog or outreach and the first step of any outreach campaign is to find people that already write about your topic how it's simple search for keywords around your infographics topic in Google for example in
my case I just googled keywords like on-page SEO and I found dozens of sites that covered that topic I also used keywords that Google suggested for me like on-page SEO tutorial and that led to a handful of other websites that I could reach out to later you can
also search for lists of popular blogs in your industry just Google keywords like top 50 Fitness blogs or best marketing blogs and you'll get a hand-picked list of blogs that are likely to share your content with their readers speaking of sharing your content step number three is to
email the people that you just found in the last step when you find a site that covers your infographics topic send them this tested script hey name I was on the hunt for an article about your topic today when I found your post great stuff I really liked
that you and here's where you mentioned something unique from their article actually I just published an infographic on your topic as someone that writes a lot about your topic I thought you'd like to see it let me know if you want to check it out here's a real-life
example of this script in action so why does this script work so well because you're not shoving your infographic in some face instead your respectfully asking the blogger if they want to check out your content and when someone gets back to you and says sure send it over
it's time for step number four which is to offer up a mini guest post here's the deal when most people pitch content they get in their knees and beg for a link as someone that sent thousands of outreach emails I can tell you that this approach rarely works
so what does adding value in fact adding value is what makes guest Oh graphics so different than most other link building strategies instead of begging for a link you offer the blogger or unique introduction that they can use when they post your infographic on their site that way
you're bringing something of value to the table and when someone replies to your first email send them this script great here's a link to the infographic also let me know if you ever want to publish the infographic on your site I'll be happy to write a mini guest
post just for you then when a blogger says I'd love a mini guest post write a high-quality 200 word introduction to go along with your infographic here's an example of a mini guest post that I sent to a blogger that they published the next day now it's time
for our last step which is to get a contextual backlink here's the deal Google puts more weight on backlinks that are surrounded by unique content the problem with most of the links that you get from infographics is that they're at the bottom of the infographic and that link
isn't surrounded by any content yes these links can help your rankings a little but they don't work nearly as well as a nice contextual backlink fortunately that's the exact type of link that you get from guest Oh graphics here's an example of a link that I acquired from
an authority blog using guest Oh graphics see how the link is contextual this makes the link much more powerful and thanks to these contextual links my organic traffic increased in record time and I'm not the only one that seen results from this SEO strategy one of my readers
Mike Bernardo runs a marketing agency in New York City Mike decided to try guest Oh graphics for one of his client and his clients rankings significantly improved best part my client was in one of the most boring niches on the planet pest control most people in Mike's position
would just assume that content marketing couldn't work in a boring industry like this but Mike knew better so he came up with a topic that was related to his client and appealed to bloggers and journalists the topic how to get rid of garden pet after promoting this infographic
using the Gaston graphic method and getting lots of people interested in publishing it thanks to his unique introduction Mike landed links from newspaper sites like the Bangor Daily News several different nature blogs and authority health sites like Mother Earth News all these placements led to a surge in
referral traffic and a 15% boost in organic traffic in just two weeks so as you can see guess no graphics work even if you're in a boring industry if you liked this video make sure to subscribe to my youtube channel right now just click on the subscribe button
