Van Son's Adventure: Kien Giang Phu Quoc Island Phu Quoc has a total area nearly 600 square kilometres.

Duong Dong is in the center, then Southern island at the south, and Northen island at the north.

Southern island has some famous beaches, like Sao Beach, meaning star beach.

At the north is Genh Dau beach, standing from Genh Dau, we can see our neighboring country.

This is the nearest point we can see Cambodia.

Rach Vem is a memorable place.

Besides its wild beauty, it's also famous for starfishes.

All over the beach.

The forein tourists really like it because when diving into clear ocean water, they can see the starfishes.

Actually starfish is beautiful, and useless.

When going by speedboat from Rach Vem, throush Rach Cham river.

We are familiar with shrimps, shrimp paste, or dried shrimp but we may not see fresh shrimps.

Freshly caught! They start drying them, then ground them, or dry one more time, to make dried shrimp, or garnish on top a dish, or put into the soup, very good.

It is a floating village, with clear water that we can see lots of starfishes under sea.

So stunning! We will follow the river, to discover beautiful view, like U Minh forest in Ca Mau.

This is the 50 hectares land that is well-reserved.

To protect a tree called Lumnitzera littorea.

People in Phú Quốc used to use this tree to make the hull.

So the boat very sturdy.

I think it's because this tree grew in mangrove forests.

I also think this tree's even sturdier than tea tree.

Usually a tea tree never get rotten growing in the water.

But this tree's like a legend, look at its stem.

Especially, lately it became a kind of medicine.

For curing some diseases.

That's why it's very rare.

It is recognized by The international red list.

Not only in our country's Red list.

It's strictly protected.

This tree live in mangrove forests.

Which means it grew under water.

That's why its roots spread out like that.

So it can get more oxygen.

And nurture all of the subtrees.

I can't believe Phú Quốc also has this kind of forest.

I didn't expect there will be river like this.

When i visited Phú Quốc long ago, i just played on the beach and tried other stuff.

But when you explore more about Phú Quốc, you will realize all of this place's wonders.

An island with freshwater lake.

And this kind of forest too.

Don't need to mention about the island, Ngọc Island, as true as the Pearl Island.

The bait's still intact.

It nibbled half of my bait.

It means there're fish down here.

But the fish are too small that it can't eat all the bait but to nibble.

It nibbles.

See?A big one! The biggest one that i've ever caught.

Actually if you want to catch the big one, you have to go far away.

Here, even spreading the net can't catch a big one, We just stay around the reef, you can see a lot of corals under the water.

There are just small fish eating seaweeds.

If you want to eat quality food, you have to go far.

But we don't have the time to go out there to catch some big fishes, How about going to the restaurant on boat over there? They raise a lot of big fishes that are caught by people working at the restaurant.

After catching them, they put them in the lake and raise for selling.

Let's go there, choose one and eat.

For instance, groper, crab, shrimps, oyster and lots more than that.

The gropers do live there, But they all swim in the large scale and space, we can't catch them.

People here did catch them and raise the fish here.

If we can't even manage to catch them in this net, just die then.

This one is caught by other off-shore boats, after catching the fishes, they bring them here for selling, That's why it's rare to see a groper like this.

We can make hotpot with this one.

Or stew them.

Or eat them raw like sashimi.

Or even steam it.

And the rest of it is lip and intestines will be fried with cinnamon leaf.

Normally, we have to scuba dive to catch these tridacna derasa.

This kind of animal can never be brought up.

In the rice fields, there are many this animals.

It's fragrant, crisp and sweet.
