Hey friends, Marc Guido here with GrandAdventure, and I know what you're wondering: why is the wind blowing mydoor? Yeah, that's it.
It's Sunday, what are we doing with a newvideo on a Sunday? This is not one of our regularly scheduled episodes.
I assureyou we'll have a new one for you this Wednesday, so we hope you tune in.
But inthe meantime, with everything going on in the world this weekend I wanted to talkwith you for a moment about Covid-19 coronavirus.
Now we put a poll out on ourFacebook page asking our viewers, are you changing your plans this summer becauseof coronavirus, or are you going to carry on with your RV travel plans regardless ofwhat's going on out there? Especially with so many things closing — facilities, sights, even some campgrounds closing.
There's some concern about NationalParks maybe closing.
Everybody's wondering what's going on, and everything is still very much in flux.
Nobody really knows what's going on.
Surprisingly, a full 89% of you responded that you don't intend to change yourtravel plans one bit.
You plan on carrying on as you intend to, come whatmay, and I have to admit we're kind of in the same situation.
We're of like mindthat we plan to continue with our plans regardless of what's going on.
Now ouroriginal plan had been to stay here in Salt Lake City until the end of skiseason at the end of April, and then hit the road right around the beginning ofMay.
That may get bumped up a little bit.
Ski resorts across the country have beenfalling like dominoes since yesterday.
Vail Resorts decided that they weregoing to close their ski areas, all 37 of them, for a week and then reevaluate, although I don't think there are too many people who think that they're goingto reopen.
Nost other resorts who followed suit have said “yep, that's it, we're pulling the plug, we're done.
” So we really don't have anything major keepingus here in Salt Lake City right now now.
Right now my employer is trying tofigure out what they're doing.
All indications are that they're –sorry, it's a little windy out here — all indications are that they're preparingto send everybody home to work virtually.
Mrs.
Grand Aventure, right now we'rewaiting to hear on her job.
She may not have a job to go back to.
So, if that's allthe case, I think we're probably going to be hitting the road a littlebit sooner than we expected.
We'll keep you in the loop, we'll keep you in theknow once we know more, once all these chips fall, and we'll be in a betterposition to figure out what's going on.
In the meantime we urge you folks tostay safe.
We don't believe in hiding from this, but at the same time webelieve in taking reasonable precautions to help prevent community spread.
Makesure that you're washing your hands thoroughly far more than regularly, usethat hand sanitizer, avoid crowded public areas as much as you possibly can.
If youhave any symptoms that cause you to believe you might have coronavirus, self-quarantine, and I actually can't think of a better place to self-quarantine thansitting out boondocking somewhere on BLM land away from everybody else.
Soundslike a good plan to me, what about you guys? Keep those surfaces well sanitizedand well cleaned, and we'll all get through this period of indecisiontogether.
We will keep you in the loop as to what's going on with Grand Adventure, but we may well be bringing you travel episodes a little earlier than we firstplanned.
So in the meantime if you're not yet a Grand Adventurer, hit that littlethreat red subscribe button down there in the corner and ring that notificationbell.
