My Himachal Pradesh journey started with two friends Arijeet and Vikrant We planned our journey in Winter of November 2019 It was very hard for planes to take off But still we managed to reach Delhi, we boarded the bus at 8:30 from Kashmiri Gate, Delhi to Kalpa and off we go.
Delhi to Kalpa was a long journey 17-18 hrs travel by bus but the views were so scenic that we lost track of time next day we arrived at Kalpa at 6:30pm and the weather was -8 The real journey started In the next morning, when we saw through the window, the frozen scenery stunned our eyes here the way of living is very simple, the people are very simple too, here apple farms are everywhere, Apple wine is prepared in every home As we started to explore Kalpa we made some new friends who too joined us Viraj: So Arijeet, hows the journey so far? Arijeet: So far the journey is pretty good, today we are going to visit the suicide point but we are running very late, its 12:30 already.
.
Viraj: My vlog is in Hindi why are you talking in English Arijeet: Whatever it is, we need to get going its already 12:30.
.
That over there, is Vikrant he's coming since forever We started exploring Kalpa on foot but while returning there was no arrangements for bus or cabs so what? so we took lift Now we are going to market and then we might leave for Chitkul where we'll stay for 2 days Here every street had snow so we had to be very careful while walking if someone slips then it would be really difficult situation while roaming through market we met Ishan, aftertalking to him we got to know that there has been a snowfall and the roads might be closed to chitkul Ishan was mentioning a place called “Rakchham” which is very close to chitkul so after seeing his excitement we decided to go to Rakchaam For Rakchham we had to catch a bus from Reckong Peo to Sangla We reached 2 hrs early at Reckong Peo, so then? we went for shopping from Reckong Peo we departed at 4:30pm but here it starts getting dark after 5 pm so we were feeling as if we were travelling at night we have arrived at sangla bus stop, its 6:30 and its -10 and its pretty cold out here and really windy next were going to Rakchham we will be staying at Rakchham for tonight We will be staying in a homestay Soon the owner of the homestay will come to receive us We have nothing to do for the next 45 mins he will be receiving us in the next 45 mins we reached at 8 pm in Rakchham and it was -16 it was very cold it was only 8 pm but it was so silent and dark which we never seen as soon as we reached out homestay the homestay owner served us hot food Our 3rd day started in Rakchham there was snow and only snow everywhere it was -8 it and so it was very cold Rakchham is a small village, situated in between two mountains at the time there were only 40-50 people in the village while walking on the snowy roads of Rakchham we saw some cute kids who were sledging we also wanted to do sledging so we talked and asked if we could sledge and then we did sledging too but its important to note that the sledge was too small for us still we enjoyed a lot After that we went to see the temple and on the way we saw few wooden houses which were in wards, But nobody was there During this period these people move to the lower level of the region of the mountains While walking through these wooden houses we felt as if we were in a different world There was a recent snowfall so the snow was very very soft So we enjoyed a lot.
In our cities it gets dark very late, Because of the spread of the mountain's shadow it starts getting dark very early Next day our jounrey started in Guruji's Gypsy who were a school teacher in Chitkul's Government School and our journey started along with him.
It was snow everywhere the mountains were shining like silver and the soil was glittering like gold, the glory of the view cannot be expressed in words.
The specialty of Chitkul is that it is the last village of India which is situated on the banks of Baspa river.
and also it has the India's last Dhabha.
The view at Baspa river was breathtaking, this water was coming from the Galciers and the water was so crystal-clear that the bottom of the river could be seen immediately but it started freezing and turning into ice.
There after that we went to Guruji's school, where Guruji offered us hot tea, for which he brought the water from the river only and it was truly something like from a dream.
On the very day we went from Chitkul to Rakchham and Rakchham to Reckong Peo where we spent for the night, as we had to rush to Kaza next early morning.
