Xochimilco Floating Farm Tour | Mexico City Travel Vlog | RVers Travel Inspiration

so now we're about to go explore Mexico City.

LIÊN QUAN

Tham quan Chùa Bửu Long (Chùa Thái Lan) Quận 9 – Tp Hồ Chí Minh

🔴 Đầu Năm Làm Chuyến Thăm Quan " Nhà Của Pao " Và " Dinh Thự Vua Mèo" / Khoai Hà Giang

Du lịch bụi | Pháp | Tham quan Versailles, Khải Hoàn Môn, nhà thờ Đức Bà, Sông Seine.

Three humans two dogs no waiting.

.

.

uber.

You'd think we were moving in forlife! Ha Ha! This is what $80 gets you per night.

With dogs.

.

.

in MexicoCity.

Well this is a pretty awesome place towatch our first sunset! Dennis: Daydreaming about what you're going to get already? I can't wait! Ha Ha! so we told you you ever going to betaking a boat ride and we are here! At one of the most touristic activities you can do in all of Mexico City.

We're Dennis and Liz and we've beenfull-time RVing since 2017 In February of 2020 we decided to embark on a brand new adventure RVing to Mexico with two of our full time RV friends the Newstate Nomads and I'm not lost I'm RV'ing Over the past two months we have seen anddone some incredible things together and last week we finally arrived to Teotihuacan a suburb outside of Mexico City where we were able to explore thepyramids of Teotihuacan and finally get our scooter fixed! But, now we're back atthe RV saying goodbye to our friends I'm not lost I'm RV'ing as they head backto the United States.

they were expecting to stay anywhere from five to eightweeks originally when we talked about going to Mexico they never really thought they were gonna do a whole trip with us especially since they had a workcamping obligation already set into place so we knew they weren't gonna bewith us the whole time but it was still a bummer when they left but we get it.

This what this lifestyle is about right? you do whatworks for you and your RV style they have obligations they want to meetand get back in the United States we're super happy for them and hope theyget there safely and quickly Oh, for sure.

so now we're about to go explore Mexico City and instead of us taking the very long commute that's rather cheap here from Teotihuacan which is a bus then a metro into the cityand is about a two hour trip we decided we would just get an Uber therewhich is gonna cost us like $15 US dollars we got an Airbnb that allowsthe Newstates to bring their two puppies and we're gonna explore the city for three nights! so the Airbnb's there are so cheap we got a place that's like 34 dollars for each couple every night I mean.

.

.

come on!Our own place.

Two bedrooms, two bathrooms Eighty bucks a night for a suite.

Yeah! we're leaving the cats here because we do have electrical hookups in the Teotihuacan trailer park so we're gonna leave the max fan on auto, leave the windows crack for them we have an automatic feeder we have an automaticwater feeder so they're good for several days They'll just probably miss beingpet.

But that's okay human interaction is definitely the thing we feel guilty about them not having while we're gone.

so we're really excitedto explore and see all that Mexico City has to offer I've heard amazing thingsthat I'm ready to get there! yeah but first we gotta get this Uber.

Oh yeah, that's true and all of our stuff.

.

.

So, the uber might be a bit of a challengebecause of the dogs.

so we're gonna have to possibly request a few different rides until someone is cool with us putting the dogs in their car.

Ha Ha! so we'll see how that goes.

.

.

well, dogs are like children so they need their own bags I need their own sleeping stuff.

They need their own food.

So, about 60% of this is actually for the dogs.

Three humans two dogs no waiting, Uber.

♫ Okay.

.

.

Okay, hang on.

I'm just getting out right, close the door? Okay.

.

.

alright I have to look at the door.

.

.

instructions.

wait what's wrong you think we weremoving in for life 72 hours in the city this is what $80 gets you per night withdogs and nice to sit in Mexico City my badso that's my and Liz's room let's check out Howard and Kaitlyn's room they gotthe Mac Daddy ensuite hi welcome yeah shower the the humble folks at thebathroom comecomecome of that very usable kitchenand living room and then a very quaint living space I feel like most peopledon't know what to expect or think when they come to Mexico City but it's like ait's the fifth largest city in the entire world it's a huge huge populationand metropolitan city so pretty much any big city you're gonna find modernbuildings and a historic center it's the same here this is Jeff in the modernstyle you well this is a pretty awesome place towatch our first sunset so exciting this is our rooftop terrace of our apartmentwe have beautiful views of the city grab some beers and now we're gonna watch ourfirst sunset in Mexico City you with the sub hood oh yeah we ready tosee this plate yeah relax I really change your clothes so you cantravel some more to the restaurant yeah so today is our first day exploringMexico City where we have the full day so we're starting off right going toRosetta bakery and Roma Norte this is a really famous restaurant that has both apen and a dia and an actual restaurant we're gonna just pick up a few pastriessince we have a boat tour to get to visiting the two numbers so we're justgonna grab some coffee grab some pastries and then hit the road I can't wait I can't wait so from ourresearch there's a tons of neighborhoods there at Mexico City but it seems likethe really popular ones that everyone suggests visiting or that has lots ofshops and restaurants and bars are the Roma neighborhood which is Roma NorteRoma Sur Condesa neighborhood and then who are Eze which is actually reallyclose to where we're staying which is like an up-and-coming neighborhood weended up kind of slightly exploring Juarez last night and it was really coolso I'm excited to actually should walk around and see all the cute little shopsone of the afternoons were here but those are the hip neighborhoods ifyou're coming to Mexico City okay this place is packed if we've learnedanything in the two days or now – but we're trying to dine out experiences umhave reservations and come early be willing to wait but I think the line istelling us how good this is gonna be so there's a road acquire Barrathey made a dress for just almond rolled a cardamom oh car bomb gone chest arethose shells we had in Guanajuato roll the Chimera which is cinnamon twisted ina roll I don't know I want them all oh it's yours Oh Blake crema I wonder whatthat one is I want to go for a donut so we ordered abunch of different pastries we got doughnuts we got poo lattes he's doing like pink sauce in the middleso the first one we just demolish was the eight red fruits and now about thehit this is hella one Caitlyn a chocolate donut and I got Howard aTheresa pH citrus tone innocent Monroe and Burnham Emerilit was all sofas well worth it even if there's a long line it moves prettyquickly and we would love to try the actual sit-down meals and sugar exercise princess TitaOh reddit well I can't wait so we told you we were going to be taking a boatride and we are here at one of the most touristic activities you can do in allof Mexico City you can go to the area of Xochimilco and you can give one of theseold historic boats and go through a wonderful ride through the canals thathave thousands of islands that have been man-made dating all the way back fromthe Aztecs time so over a thousand year old islands that were used as naturalwaterways to grow food so today we wanted to see a little bit differentside of it rather than just going out for a big party and lots of drinks onthe boats like most tourists do we're taking a tour with dela tuna bus andthey're going to actually take us on one of the boats through the canals and weget to go to one of the organic farms and learn about the ancient practice ofgrowing food on to numbers these islets it's going to be a wonderful time weactually get to have a homemade meal from the produce gathered from theorganic farm here and we're so excited to share it with you were chained the name is bill on CEO Napait's a a small island in the middle of the lake no it's just leads differentleagues of roots wood and branches the world of the china come from the nawakichina middle and means bed of roots of death of branches because the Toltecs2, 000 years ago these guys starts to build the chinampas on top of the waterbecause first they put the steaks on the water and then they build a bit ofbranches the first lead is branches and put the stakes and then make thebranches and put in inside of the estate's then take the mud from thebottom of the canal and put a one lead of mud on top of the branches thenanother lead of branches and another lead of month and many times and now youhave a island in the middle of the lake for imagine in my city found lettuce son top of the chinampas when i was a kid my family uses boats just for make apicnic here and i have the idea for start to make a basket of lettuces andi'm so with my friends and my family and one day one of the owners of contramy restaurant they call me and save me because I want your products becausehave many quality and the next year I had 20 restaurants what would work withme and was a crazy my purpose in the beginning was attacked the peak of theparapet and tried to work and try to start work with the best restaurants ofMexico City because now they are top 10 chef and now they have chinampas hereand they produce your own food and bring them to the restaurants I know whathappened everybody wants to come here for happiness and now we create aneconomical resources in this sustainable system and now it's the opposite thefarmers wants to work with the restaurants for continued flotillinsknow and it's a way for restore the area but the problem in Mexico now it's herethe 90% of the lands are abandoning we don't have farmers for continued plot inthe lands if in 30 years we don't found farmers for continued plot in the Nantzthis area try and this is very sad because it's such a miracle disappearedthe entire Mexico City collapsing and this is my work now my work is trying tofound the families who have the passion for continued plot in the lands againfor a bank agriculture on top of the chinampa I'm start just with twonow I have a net of 45 farmers work with us in every table every restaurant everyhouse every land every everything in Mexico have tortillas no and have cornand in this case is not deception in that pot you have tamales Oaxaca newsit's a kind of its mass of corn meal of cornwrap it in a banana leaf with tomatillo sauce and chicken is really good alsoGuatemala it's another word in networking and come from the agua tamaleworld and means male of avocado and it's a very a speck of rice panic food youhave a cheese there we call it fresh cheese because hearing the chinampas wehave grazing cows I call it happy cows because that girls don't have any stressand the milk is really really a sweet for try and the cheese is amazingand in the jar you have tourmaline water it's a fresh water because in Mexicoalways you funny name him in any market you fun I was fresca and also my lastdish eats cucumbers with Clarets these vegetables come from here and harvestfor you yesterday and in Mexico we used to be this kind of vegetables with lemonsalt and Ching it's stacking G it's a local gastronomy I hope you enjoy ithere we have a collage achill grubs organic crops and we grow the food justlike responding time it's a pretty neattechnique for grow the food here because we use the math and we make theseedlings on top of the chinampas we don't use plastics for example for growthe seeds just would use a month and why the math because the mud is very fertilein this area because many years ago the city the Mexico City was surrounded byfive volcanoes but the red the four of them exploded and we have volcanic soilit's with volcanic ash it's mean this must have fertilizer for grow the foodinside the job of the chinampas is just like a sponge because they observedwatcher Ricardo's chinampa had over 90 plots growing a variety of vegetablesand flowers we loved getting to hear how the food was grown and get to share inhis passion and mission for sustainable and organic farming seeing how hisefforts are not just saving a dying practice but saving the city on a muchlarger scale we visited the chinampa weeks before the current epidemic butfeel it's more evident than ever with everything that's going on that the workthat ricardo is doing is needed not just in Mexico City but across the globe wecan all be a part of a positive change by finding a more local and sustainableway to buy or grow food in your community if you're interested inlearning more about how you can do your part no matter where you live my sisterwho teaches organic and sustainable gardening in Florida on YouTube as theurban harvest has a video about Victory Gardens where Americans went back totheir roots and started their own gardens during the war ultimatelyproducing the equivalent of 40% of all vegetables that were consumed at thetime we can't thank Ricardo and de latching on bus enough for taking us onthis tour if you're coming to Mexico City we highly encourage you taking yourown tour with de latinum bus to see and experience these beautiful islands and adifferent side of Xochimilco flower is sweet and soft oh my gosh itis like every bit of rosemary you've ever had just exploding in your mouththat is the freshest erbia thing of it I think I've ever experienced.
